What Corus expects from its suppliers
Corus' expectations for its suppliers are:
Working together with Corus as a partner to deliver value
Corus aims to deliver value with suppliers by building relationships with strategic partners. Corus has already put in place a number of Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) projects with key suppliers but we are keen to develop many more of these projects and hold in high regard those suppliers who undertake such activities with us.
Continuous Improvement
The Corus Way is how Corus is planning on becoming a value player in the steel industry. Continuous Improvement is vital in order that we can become the best supplier to the best customers. In turn we expect our suppliers to be the best. Ongoing improvements in our supply base on products, services, processes, technologies and supply chain management are key to us being able to achieve our goals.
Comply with laws, regulations and social standards
Corus has a global supply base and looks to all its suppliers to comply with all laws, regulations and social standards; regardless of where they are operating.
Appropriate health and safety standards
Health and safety are central to Corus’ management policies. Corus considers the effective management of health and safety as a crucial part of a supplier's operation. We expect our suppliers to demonstrate sound principles of health and safety management.
Appropriate Quality Standards
Corus sells products to many industries, including those with the most stringent quality standards. To produce quality products, Corus needs to ensure the quality of the products and services supplied to us meet the required standards and that suitable quality assurance programs are in place at the supplier's operations.
Appropriate Environmental Standards
Corus considers care for the environment to be essential both in terms of our duty to society and to ensure the continuity of our business. While we look internally to reduce environmental impact, we also expect suppliers to effectively manage their processes and materials to reduce environmental impacts and to achieve appropriate standards.
Financial security
Financial security is an essential requirement within our supply base so that the risk of disruptions to supply, and within supply chains, is minimised.
Reliable supply
Corus needs suppliers who can provide reliable and flexible delivery of products and services so we in turn can be a reliable source of supply to our customers.
Competitive prices
Corus operates in a globally competitive market and the cost of our purchases has a significant impact on costs of our products. It is therefore expected that our suppliers offer highly competitive prices and make efforts to reduce waste and add value.
