About us
Corus Steel Packaging Recycling (CSPR) is the UK’s centre of technical and communications expertise on steel packaging recycling. We are part of Corus (UK) Limited.
CSPR was set up in January 1998 to promote the recycling of steel packaging. Since that time, rates of steel packaging recycling have risen significantly, growing from 25% in 1998 to around 56.34% in 2007.
CSPR’s objectives are to:
-
Provide a market for recovered steel packaging in the Corus steelmaking plants.
-
Facilitate recycling through the strategic application of revenue from Packaging Recovery Notes (PRNs).
-
Work in partnership with local authorities, waste management companies, the ferrous scrap industry, compliance schemes, the steel packaging chain, Government and other organisations involved in steel packaging to increase cost-effective steel packaging recovery.
-
Provide strategic advice and technical information to the public and private sector on the most suitable steel packaging recovery schemes.
-
Promote the recovery of steel packaging among consumers, local authorities and the commercial sector.
